Farm Outlook Scholarship

This is an award of $ 2,000.00 towards the first year tuition for post secondary studies in Human Ecology, Agriculture, Human Nutrition, Environment, Food Science, Agriculture Engineering or Veterinary Medicine (applicant may be entering University 1 with the intent to pursue a degree in one of these areas), a university diploma in Agriculture, community college diploma in agri-business, vet technician or other agriculture related course including apprenticeship programs at any post secondary educational institution in Canada or the USA. The recipient of the scholarship must demonstrate their community involvement in our region and must have the intention to return to the area. The scholarship must be utilized within eighteen months of being awarded.

Award will be paid to the successful applicant as selected by a Scholarship Committee which has been set up by the Dauphin Agricultural Society.

CONDITIONS:
Applicant must have a complete Grade XII and
1. must be entering their first or second year of post secondary study in an eligible field and
2. must have their permanent residence in communities within the geographic area including the Rural Municipalities of Dauphin, Ochre River, Mossey River, Ethelbert, Ste. Rose, Alonsa, Gilbert Plains, Grandview, McCreary, Lawrence or Mountain, the unorganized territories of the Waterhen area or Crane River area.

The Selection Committee may choose not to give the award if no suitable applicant is found. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview. Applications are to be submitted on or before May 24, 2024

The recipient must use the bursary within 18 months of receiving the award. The bursary will not be paid until student has enrolled and classes have commenced. A letter confirming enrollment will be required from the educational institution before bursary installments are paid directly to the recipient. NOTE: previous recipients of the Dauphin Agricultural Society Scholarship/Bursary are not eligible.

SELECTION CRITERIA: The applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
Marks 10%
Application 20% (Extra-Curricular Activities, community involvement, work ethic, reference, future plans)
Essay 50%
Financial Need 20%
